Software consultancy & open-source studio

We help organizations put AI and enterprise software to work.

Impluvium Software is a software organization providing pragmatic consulting on AI adoption and enterprise software development — and a home for open-source projects like Phoropter.

What we do

Three ways we help — one standard of craft.

AI Usage & Strategy

Cut through the hype. We help teams adopt AI where it genuinely moves the needle — retrieval-augmented systems, workflow automation, evaluation — with a clear eye on cost, privacy, and maintainability.

Enterprise Software Development

Design and delivery for systems that have to last: clean architecture, sensible CI/CD, and software your team can actually own long after an engagement ends.

Open-Source Stewardship

We build and maintain tools in the open, and support the communities that grow around them — documentation, discussion, and a place to file the bug that everyone else also hit.

Open source

Software we build in the open.

Phoropter

A multi-view retrieval server — it lets you look at the same body of knowledge through different lenses, so an application can choose the view that fits the question instead of forcing one shape on everything.

Community, documentation, and issues live on GitHub; the project site lives at its own home.

About

Why “Impluvium.”

In a Roman house, the impluvium is the shallow basin that catches rainwater from the open roof and channels it inward, to where it is needed.

We think that is a good description of good software work: capture what is genuinely new — including the current wave of AI — and channel it into something durable and useful, rather than letting it run off as noise. Impluvium Software is an independent studio. We take on a small number of consulting engagements and put the rest of our energy into open-source tools anyone can use.
